Interested In Officiating?

If you're a current youth player 12 years or older wanting to learn more about the game and make money or maybe you're a former player who have always wanted to see what is is like to be an official, then joining the IEHOA team could be for your.

There is no real prior experience needed to be an official. You only need skates, referee pants, protective gear such as shin guards and elbow pads, a referee jersey, a black helmet with a visor, skates, and of course a whistle.

To become a certified official you will need everything mentioned above, which can all be found online at: https://www.officialswearhouse.com/ as well as go through all of the proper training to know the rules of the game and be able to successfully enforce them. All officials are required to attend a classroom seminar, complete the closed book exam (Level 2 and up), complete an on-ice session (apart of the classroom seminar schedule), and complete the open book online exam and online training modules.

If you are 18 and over you will also have to complete the required background check and SafeSport training. Both of these are done online too.

Our goal and mission at IEHOA is to provide the best qualified officials for all youth and adult level hockey games throughout the season. We believe in enforcing the rules to the best of our abilities each time we take the ice and to ultimately be the best team on the ice. Without officials, the games will not be able to happen. Anyone can train to become an official and we hope you consider joining our association here at Inland Empire Hockey Officials Association.
